Hello SRTCC Tennis Enthusiasts!
The next few weeks are full of great tennis. Starting with the Men’s Century Tournament on Saturday and moving on to Play for Pink on Sunday, August 20th.
Men’s Century Tournament
Saturday, August 12th. Play starts at 8:30 AM.
Play for Pink!
Sunday, August 20th will be here before you know it. Shelter Rock gives back by hosting “Play for Pink” in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. There are still a few spaces left to play tennis. Please see Robin if you are interested.
Please note, all Play for Pink participants must wear white shorts or a white tennis skirt. A t-shirt will be provided. This will maintain our 50% white dress code, as well as make for a great group photo.
A Few Schedule Changes due to Play for Pink!
Please note, due to Play for Pink!, there will be no courts available for recreational play on Sunday, August 20th.
Robin’s bullpen and Rick’s Saturday Morning Cardio are cancelled on Saturday, August 19th.
Men’s Game Arranging will be held on Saturday, August 19th at 8:30 AM. Please arrive at 8:15 AM for check in.
End of Season Women’s Tennis Luncheon
Friday, August 25th. Join us for a fun morning of tennis followed by lunch. Can’t make tennis, just join us for lunch. ALL members are welcome.
Information and sign up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board. Sign up is required.
Mixed Madness Tournament
Labor Day weekend is host to our Mixed Madness Tournament! Saturday, September 2nd and Sunday, September 3rd. Possibly one of SRTCC’s most unpredictable mixed doubles tournaments. Teams are chosen out of a hat and then the fun begins. Sign up is required. Please visit the pro shop for more information.
It is not too early to think about winter games.
SRTCC is a 4 season club. Tennis continues well into the winter and is played in our bubble and in the indoor house. If you are interested in joining a weekly drill or finding a weekly game, our pros can point you in the right direction. Stop by the pro shop for more information.
This week’s question comes from “Let” us be Social…
Hey there Alex:
In a social game or an unofficiated match who calls a service let.
Thanks for asking, Social.
The official rule in a “social” game, is that any player or team may call a let.
For the record, the same rules apply even in a competitive match. The USTA rules state if there is no official watching the match either server or receiver may call a let, but they must do it promptly.
Keep those questions coming! Just ask Alex!
How about a midsummer refresher lesson with one of our pros?
Private, semi private or small group drills and lessons are a great way to boost your game. Rick, Robin, and Alex are available to help perfect your serve, improve your topspin, work on your footwork or anything else you might want to work on. Contact the Pro Shop for times and availability.
