Meet the Pros

Rick Liebman

Director of Tennis

Rick is an active competitor who loves tennis and is currently nationally ranked in the top 10 in Men’s 60’s Doubles. After playing his collegiate tennis at St. John’s University, Rick was ranked top 10 in Men’s Singles in the Eastern Tennis Association and achieved a World Tennis Ranking. Rick is a 35 year member of the USPTA as a certified pro. He was also Head Tennis coach at St. John’s University for 5 years and prior to joining Shelter Rock, Rick served as the Director of Tennis for the Great Neck Park District for 18 years.

Rick teaches all ages and levels giving private, semi-private, and group tennis lessons.

Robin Deitch-Nogrady

Head Tennis Professional

Robin was one of the top junior players in the country and went on to play for the University of South Carolina on a full tennis scholarship. Robin still holds the records in both career wins for singles and doubles at USC. Robin was a silver medalist in the Olympic festival in mixed doubles losing to Pete Sampras and partner.  Robin competed at the highest level having finished her competitive years on the Pro Tour and finally bringing her skills to Shelter Rock.

Robin teaches all ages and levels giving private, semi-private, and group lessons, and is a USPTA member rated as an Elite Professional.

Alex Zarek

Assistant Head Tennis Professional

Introduced to tennis at age 5, Alex has never stopped playing since. He was ranked top junior in the Northeast from 1980 through 1987 and played in professional Satellite tournaments in 1988 and 1989. In 1990 he decided to focus his talent on teaching and found his way to Shelter Rock Tennis Club in 1997.  Alex is a United States Professional Tennis Registry Certified Instructor and a member of the US National Tennis Academy.

Alex is in charge of the lively junior and children’s tennis clinics at Shelter Rock.
